Snowshoeing!

December 26, 2013 By Tyler 1 Comment

Back in July, Jessica got me a wonderful and thoughtful birthday gift, snowshoes! The only downside was that I had to wait six months to be able to use them. Well, it finally snowed, and I had good reason to be excited.

Jessica borrowed a pair of snowshoes from my mother and the two of us scouted out a location for an adventure. Neither of us had snowshoed before, but we both had a blast. We ended up going about 1.5 miles, which isn’t too far. Snowshoeing is definitely harder than hiking though. By Saturday, when we went out, the snow was also wet, which made it significantly heavier.

I lugged my camera and my GoPro along for the trip and put together a quick goofy movie.

We snowshoed in a reservation called Garfield Woods. It probably has three to five miles of trails. But, I was excited to check this area out because it supposedly had a number of boulders I could try to climb in warmer weather. I saw a few and I am planning on heading back out when the snow melts!

Jam of the Week – You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch

December 24, 2013 By Tyler Leave a Comment

Jam of the week 2 speakersI’ll keep this post short since I know many of you have presents to wrap and family members who need help with their computers.

For the last Jam of the Week post before Christmas, I figured I squeeze in one last Xmas song in case you hadn’t heard enough yet (doubtful!).

You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch was written by Dr. Seuss and originally sung by the impressively named Thurl Ravenscroft. You have to love the lyrics.

You’re a foul one, Mr. Grinch. You’re a nasty wasty skunk. Your heart is full of unwashed socks. Your soul is full of gunk. Mr. Grinch!

Each holiday season I tend to get obsessed with a single song. This year it was You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch. I hope you enjoy it too.

Check out past Jam of the Week posts.
