Jessica and I are hiking the John Muir Trail which we will follow for 238.8 miles through 6 federally protected areas including Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Parks. Before the trip we prepared a quick summary of our plans for each day. That way
our parents curious folks can follow along. Use this link to see all of the posts. Today is day 11 of our hike.
Today we are hiking from Quail Meadows near Vermilion Valley Resort to Marie Lake which lies just below Selden Pass.
|Miles||Feet Elev. Gained||Feet of Elev. Lost|
|Today||11.83||+ 3993||– 1329|
|Cumulative||120.95||+ 31,772||– 26,299|
Depending on how far we went yesterday, we have a pretty standard JMT day for us today: around 11 miles with three thousand or so feet of elevation gain. Our goal today is to get to the beautiful Marie Lake which is just below Selden Pass.
To get to Marie Lake (above), we will have to climb a 2000′ ridge and then walk along Bear Creek (below) for about four miles. I’ve read that Bear Creek has some amazing swimming spots, so I hope Jessica can get a good rinse. I am guessing that by now she smells terribly!
