Two of my favorite college courses were on Architectural Design. The courses consisted of design projects due every other Friday. No matter how much time you spent working during the two weeks, that Thursday before always ended up being an all-night’r in the studio.
With everyone in the class there working until the wee hours of the morning, we always put the radio on. Around midnight, one station put on the same 4-hour tape of classic rock and advertisements.
And, when I say classic rock, I mean truly classic: Chuck Berry, Chubby Checker, Buddy Holly, Elvis, and more. I have always loved Motown. So I loved hearing the songs, even when Wooly Bully would come on at 3:30AM.
One of my favorite songs, though, was always Ain’t That a Shame by Fats Domino. It was released in 1955 and made Rolling Stone’s Top 500 songs of all time (#438). Not too shabby, but a little too low in my book.
