You know the saying, “April showers bring May flowers?” Well, the weather this past weekend in Central Massachusetts proved that the first half of that statement needs to be amended. The showers started early. During the last few days of March, the skies opened up and have delivered plenty of rain.
One significant benefit has been that any lingering snow has finally disappeared. However, some people are bothered by the soggy ground and constant mist that now “plague” the Northeast. I, on the other hand, have been ready for the end of winter for three weeks, so this change has been phenomenal. Bring on the mud!
I also love the fact that I can put away my winter jacket, boots, chunky scarves and mittens, which is exactly what I did this past weekend. In exchange, I pulled out my rain jacket, umbrella, and rain boots. Not only are all of these items extremely functional, but they also come in a variety of colors. With spring blooms on the way, the rain jackets and umbrellas that now dot the streets hint at nature’s imminent splendor. So exciting!
