If you read my previous post, have no fear. This post is NOT about exercise. It is about shoes, because as you are about to learn I…LOVE…shoes. I adore them, worship them, would kill for them. Honestly, one of my goals in life is to own a closet full of them. NO JOKE. I am super envious of the Kardashians. Unfortunately, being a teacher does not provide me with the means to fulfill this goal anytime soon, nor it is a profession that embraces funky and fun high heels. Something about being a private school in New England really kills that, but I do my best.
This past summer, as I was perusing trends for this fall, I noticed that my current shoe collection is severely lacking in the boot department. I own 1 pair of rain boots, 1 pair of snow boots, and 1 pair of really nice knee-high boots. However, I own ZERO booties.
Booties have always scared me. Out of all the shoes out there, I just don’t get them. I am fairly short – 5’3″ – and therefore, don’t have longest legs in the world. I am also not what you would call “a stick”. So, in the past, when I’ve tried on a pair of booties, I’ve always felt super self-conscious. They cut off my leg at a weird place and make me look stumpy. I also don’t know what to wear them with. I own one pair of skinny jeans, because skinny jeans are not a short, busty woman’s friend, or at least not mine. That being said, I am determined not to let booties get the best of me!
This past week, while cruising Pinterest, I did a little research, hoping to gain some insight on how I could get booties to work for my body type. I found this pin with 4 “bootie options”. Like I said before, skinny jeans are not really my thing, but I’m pretty confident I can rock bootie options 3 and 4. Therefore, I decided to stop by DSW on the way home from getting my car serviced a few days ago. Logical step, right?
First let me say that DSW is great. Their shoes are not too expensive, but they’ve still got some good quality options. Honestly though, I didn’t really expect to find anything on my trip. My last few visits to The Warehouse had been disappointing; and, again, booties are not my thing. To cut a long story short, thirty minutes after my arrival, I walked out of DSW with 3 pairs of booties, grinning widely and crossing my fingers that Tyler wouldn’t give me the “OMG” face when I got home–he did. To his credit, I should also mention I brought home a really cute pair of gray Calvin Klein wedges. They were on clearance, and I’m a sucker for a sale.
All that being said, as I was walking out of the store, I told myself that I would eventually end up returning one pair of booties. As good as DSW prices are, I knew that I didn’t need THREE pairs of booties sitting in my closet right, especially as I’m just figuring them out. To this end, I tried on all three pairs when I got home, showed them to Tyler, and tested them out with multiple items from my wardrobe. In the end, I decided to keep only one pair. Can you guess which one I chose????
